Battlefield Homes takes on a select number of renovation and addition projects, working with our clients to expand and improve their homes. Our field team has an average of over 30 years of experience each. We can analyze an existing home and recommend, design and execute projects that are within budget and in keeping with our customers’ needs for a renovation project.
Starting with a home visit to inspect and review the structure, utilities (such as electrical, HVAC and plumbing), finishes and the project site, we then discuss your desires for the project and recommend options for completing the project the way you want it – whether it be improvements in keeping with the existing home or an entire new look.
We have frank and open discussions about your budget, the options that are feasible within that budget and how you can make the most of your money.
Among the projects we have completed:
- An in-law suite on an existing home (that we built 15 years earlier), adding a kitchenette, bath, living room and bedroom, with a tie-in to the existing deck and swimming pool.
- “Popping the top” of a one story home in Locust Grove, VA to add a second floor with bedrooms and baths.
- A sunroom addition with a screened deck and exterior spiral staircase to the back yard and swimming pool.
- A flex-room addition to a home (again that we built 10 years earlier), to create a large library for the owner that can be used as a bedroom (with a Murphy bed built-in) that can be used for guests.
- A major renovation of a historic home in Fredericksburg, adding bedrooms, baths and a covered patio, all within the municipal requirements of the historic district.
Featured Project:
Addition/Renovation of Lake Home:

- This home and dated home at Lake Anna was in need of more space, improvements to correct structural defects, insufficient electrical infrastructure, code deficiencies and cosmetic wear.
- Battlefield Homes performed a select amount of demolition, updated the utility infrastructure, and corrected a floor system that was our of level and added on to the waterfront side of the home and re-finished the interior and exterior, including a new kitchen, remodeled baths, a new deck, new roof and siding.
- The existing home was on a crawl space, but our addition added a full basement under the new living area, further increasing the usable living area.
- A family room extension, matching the exposed wood beams and cathedral, and adding a window wall, improved the light coming into the home and the view of the lake.
